During the 2 hour session, participants will analyze types of biases that may impact observation data. Additionally, time will be provided for participants to consider causes and generate solutions to minimize the impact of biases when completing observations.
  • Connect the teacher evaluation process and to evidences that may be influenced by observer bias.
  • Determine expectations for evidences of "proficient" and "accomplished" using the evaluation process with fidelity.
Learner Outcomes:
  • Understand the Halo Effect.
  • Explore the impact of observer/evaluator bias on teachers and school cultures.
  • Generate strategies to minimize the impact of biases when collecting observation data and completing summary evaluation ratings at the end of the evaluation cycle.
